Update

Wow, my last post I’d just gotten into grad school, now I’m nearly finished my first year!

News: I got into the concurrent registration option so I’m working on BOTH Masters of Information AND Masters Museum Studies. Time really flies!

First year has been great, I’ve learned so much. So far my focus has been on the Masters Information, User Experience side, next year my focus will be Museum Studies which I’m really looking forward to!

I’ve been enjoying the days getting longer and am looking forward to summer. Until next time!

Quick Update

If you’ve been following my comics (on Instagram and Tumblr ), you may already know that I GOT INTO GRAD SCHOOL!! In September I’ll be starting the Masters of Information program at the University of Toronto, where I’ll be specializing in User Experience Design. I am very excited to be going back to school!!

Also since my last blog post I completed a Graphic Design Internship with Cystic Fibrosis Canada. It was a great experience, and I look forward to working with them more in the future! You can check out some of the work I did during the internship here.

Well, I think that’s about it for this little update! Until next time!

New Things on the Horizon

Fitting that what I’m going to talk about is related to my last blog post. Once in a while it’s ok that I wait months between posts!

Last month I was once again asked to present Humber’s 2016 Transmedia Fellowship project, this time to Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne! Myself along with other Transmedia team members, faculty and staff presented the project along with other student groups in Humber’s usability trailer. All of the projects were well received, and it was great to see what other students have been up to!

Also in January I launched my comics project, GeeGeeComics, on Instagram which was exciting! I had launched the project in the fall of 2016 on Tumblr but decided to give Instagram a shot too. Might as well gice the people what they want and put my comics right in their newsfeed! : - )

Welcome to @geegeecomics on Instagram! #comics

You may have noticed I’ve done a little refresh of my website. I’ve been trying for a while to make it feel more like me, and this iteration is what I came up with this afternoon. I’m not a big fan of coding but I have to admit, I feel like a boss when I can easily go in a do a site clean up like this. Women are really under represented in the tech industry and I feel like I’m contributing in some small way by being able to code and edit my site.

Speaking of women in tech. I’ve recently applied to grad school! I don’t want to say much more about it for fear of jinxing my applications, I prefer to do rather than talk about doing. But my applications are in so my doing in done and now it’s a waiting game. *Channelling positive vibes*

Next week I’m going on vacation for the first time in ages. I actually don’t thing I’ve ever done a proper “vacation” in the all-inclusive-resort sense of the word. Looking forward to escaping Toronto’s not-so-winter winter for Cuban beaches. I’m sure you’ll be able to catch up on the trip through my comics once I’m back.

Until next time!

Back Back to Blogging

I’ve had a busy spring and summer and haven’t been writing, well not here at least. In May I was chosen to participate in Humber’s Transmedia Fellowship. From May to August I worked with a small team to create a 360, interactive, virtual tour of Humber’s Lakeshore campus. It was a very exciting project, I got to work on it from start to finish; development, research, content creation, design, and launch. It’s pretty cool, you can check it out at visthumberlakeshore.ca. The idea is that subsequent Transmedia Fellowship teams will expand on what we created this summer, so I look forward to seeing the project grow and evolve. We were even lucky enough to present the website to MPP Deb Matthews and MP Kristy Duncan as well as Humber’s administration.

The fellowship was such a packed few months, once it finished I was able to take a few weeks off to recharge. I’ve been dealing with some pretty distressing family matters all summer so it was good to take some time to process and heal. I spent a week at a boat house on Rideau Lake, I went to SummerFolk. It felt like the first summer in a while that I was able to enjoy the weather. I spent lots of afternoons laying on blankets reading in parks, which is a pretty excellent way to spend time!

Now that I’m back and revitalized I’ve started looking for work. My confirmation of graduation from Humber was issued today as well, now that the fellowship is complete. It’s been exciting seeing what opportunities there are out there for me! I’m really excited to start contributing my creativity to the world!

Back to Blogging

It's been a while! Nearly a year since my last blog post... So I've conveniently hidden that by stuffing all that old stuff into an archive section and starting fresh.

This website redesign is prompted by my last semeter of college assignment to create a responsive protfolio site. That, and the fact that I am graduating and will need a portfolio site real soon. Hard to believe it's already been two years of the Advertising & Graphic Design program at Humber, it really does fly by.

Anyway, here you can expect (semi)regular updates about my life, work and creative projects I'm working on. Feel free to check out my portfolio and artwork sections to get a feel for my work. A design section is coming soon too, so check back for that!

That's all for now, please enjoy this comic about my life with roommates:

Ps - If you enjoyed this slightly immusing comic come back for more, I'm going to publish them as often as I can.
